I was browsing thru this latest optical shop in a certain SM Mall called Sabater Optical (i think). The store was actually pretty and classy. I asked for an eye lubricant and a travel sized contact lens solution. They offered me this "new" brand called New Look that they said is an Australian brand. I was skeptical but the cheap-o in me took over as the set shown in the picture above only cost me Php100 ($2). after giving it some thought....ok, i lied..i didn't think at all. I bought it and only when I got home I thought........what a waste!
1. New Look has no website whatsoever and so is Sabater Optical
2. Who in their right mind would buy something packaged like this...just look at the pictures below and see for your self :(
pouch didn't help at all. Looks like something given by politicians as souvenir :(
In the end, instead of saving some money I ended up wasting because there is no way I'm using this stuff. I am guilty on experimenting products on face, skin but eyes?!.... that's a different story.
If you have information about New Look Contact Lens please comment below. Especially if you're from Australia.

ReplyDeleteWhen I went to the Philippines, I bought these contact lenses to satisfy my impulsive shopping habit. At first, I thought they were really cute. I loved how they were natural-looking, especially the grey and brown ones. I also liked the limbal ring (resembling the character of circle lenses that creates an illusion of larger eyes). Not to mention, they were very cheap. As a result, I bought 2 pairs without even thinking carefully. It never came to my mind that this brand of contact lenses is sketchy until I was looking for online information. To my surprise, it doesn't have an official website or any reviews. Gladly, I found your blog entry. What a relief that I am not the only one who is skeptical about this brand.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I also find these contact lenses to be uncomfortable (even for just a 2-hour use). My eyes tend to get really dry, itchy, and red. Also, whenever I have these lenses on for an entire day, I constantly produce thick eye boogers which can be very embarrassing. This is why I never reach out for these contact lenses anymore.
EDIT: I wonder if it is really made in Australia. Is New Look a common brand of contact lenses in the Philippines?
Hi Hye Rin,
ReplyDeleteWow. I think your comment is waaay more informative than this post, thank you so much:D and to answer your question, NO! not common at all. I've been wearing contact lense for almost 12yrs now and I've never heard of this product at the leading optical shops here in the Philippines. I've asked a friend who's working in australia for 3yrs now and she said she haven't heard of it either.
hey so i googled the "New Look" contact lens because those are the ones I'm using now and your post popped up. This is the brand that my eye doctor gave me. I've been using the solution for more than a month now and I can say that it's okay. I don't really feel any discomfort unless I wear it for too long but obviously you're not supposed to wear your contacts for many hours, right? or whatever. the only discomfort I had was when I wore the contacts for 13 hours once (i know. stupid. ofcourse it'll be irritating. but that was because I got home really late) and ended up having dry eyes for a day but the day after that, my eyes were totally fine :) depends on you if you wanna give it a go but it works alright with me :) but if u do feel any discomfort I suggest that you stop using it x
ReplyDeleteI bought a year's worth of this brand for 1500 and it was the worst decision ever. My right eye is very red from using this. I'd like to post a picture but it would just gross you out. I should have learned my lesson when I bought this one about two years ago (it got ripped easily and it won't "stick" on my eyes) I'll never recommend this brand. This is what I get for being a cheapskate.
ReplyDeleteGosh, same here. My eye doctor also gave me the same brand. I just got it home today so i haven't tried it yet. When I also saw the brand especially the design of the lens it totally bothers me a lot reason why i also searched the internet. I would really be disappointed with my eye doctor if I'll also experience a lot of discomfort since I already thrown my old contacts.╥﹏
