2010 Naughty & Nice List

This has been around Youtube for weeks now where beauty gurus give they'r list of 5 most liked products and 5 products that disappointed them. It looks fun so I'm doing this list as well but to give it a little twist, my list has to have 1 skincare, 1 haircare, 1 makeup then 2 random product. Let's start :)...

Skincare: The Body Shop Olive Body Butter

I use this after I shower at night. I like that it's not thick and sticky as I thought it would be. It has a very subtle smell and makes my skin smooth and moistured:)

Haircare: Sunsilk Style Curls & Waves Bound Defining Mousse

Gives my hair soft curls and really holds it for HOURS. Just check out my pic below.Curled my hair around 4pm and it stayed that way til the NEXT MORNING! May have been longer if I hadn't washed it :P And I love the slick packaging too ^_^

photobooth pic FTW! :p

Makeup: Laneige Snow Crystal Foundation & Revlon ColorStay Foundation

I'm so sorry I really can't choose between these 2. Both are absolutely my favorite makeup products for 2010. I use Laneige in the morning because it has SPF22 while Revlon Colorstay (RC) has SPF6 only which makes it perfect for flash photography. The only downside to RC is the smell...like a really strong chemical. The saleslady told me that the smell is due to it's waterproof agents so it's also great for clubbing :). Both are in color 'Sand Beige' but you can tell the difference of the color, right :) anyhow, both works great on me so I love love these products :)

and now for the random stuff:P....

Scent: Bath and Body Works' Sweet Pea

I've seen a lot of Youtube beauty gurus raving about this and when I finally got one I was ADDICTED immediately:) The fruity scent is not too subtle but not too strong eaither. Perfect for everyday:)

Tool: Shawill Brow Trimmer

yup, that's the Starbucks 2011 planner at the back, hihi ^_^

This has shorter blade than the usual brow trimmers we see on drugstores so it's easier to manuver. So if you're not a fan of plucking then I recommend this. Plus it has a lid attached to it so you won't loose it.

And on the the Naughty List. I had a hard time deciding on this one because I usually put a lot of thought on the products I buy and if I HATED a product, I usually give it away...but nevertheless, here's my list :)

Skincare: St. Ives Moisturizing Olive Scrub

Simply because it did NOTHING for my skin. I had high expectation for this because St. Ives Apricot Scrub is absolutely my favorite face scrub. Plus this one has smaller and softer beads that makes it gentler. But I guess my skin's so bad that it's more suited for the roughness of the Apricot scrub. HAHA!

Haircare: L'Oreal Studio Hot Straight

Yup. A heat protectant also. It's a good product actually plus the packaging is HOT PINK and this was endorsed by Beyonce :) However, I didn't like the fact that you can only use this on damp hair. Although I'm using a 'wet or dry' hair straightner, I still prefer straightning my hair dry. I just think there's no versatility in this product. Plus I always see a couple of hair strands fall everytime I comb my hair with this on.

Makeup: Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen

Does it job. But the lid's darn too hard to open, thus, I've broken it's tip just after using it thrice :(

Again, the random stuff...

Contact Lens: EOS Circle Lens

yeah, you could tell from the case that I haven't used this lately..so dusty, hyuck!

Yeah. I even did a look with this. I don't know why I can't wear this nowadays. It moves up with my lids everytime I blink. Nope it's definitely not yet expired. Do you know why is this so??

And last but not the least....

Shower Gel: Versace The Dreamer

I didn't want to include this at first because this was a gift but...what the heck, I have to complete my list:P I haven't used this actually and I'm not planning to. Because the smell is ridiculously strong! Like a Eu de Toilette perfume. Perhaps I would like this if I were older:P

And that completes my Naughty and Nice List of 2010. Hope you liked it. What about you?? What's your Naughty and Nice list for last year???

Hairstory =)

As I mentioned in the previous post I just had my hair rebonded yesterday and boy, I'm happy and finally confident wearing my hair down again:) Let me just share to you my "Hair History":) I have naturally unruly curly hair. Got it from my dad, he used to sport the "afro" and he would tell me stories of how jealous his friends were of his naturally BIG fro =) I used to be ok with my hair. I always had creative ways of tying my hair plus I'm pretty skilled with braiding my OWN hair. However that changes when I started my OJT. I have to wake up extra early to wash-dry-style my hair so you could tell it was quite troublesome. Hence I made the decision to let go of my natural hair and finally "go straight". True enough, it saved me a lot of time getting ready in the morning. A few brush strokes and that's it! I'm good to go:) And so I've been wearing my hair straight ever since. Rebonding my hair has become an ANNUAL regimen for me.

Here's a picture of my regrowth in 1 year time

uggh! so ugly

There are lots of rebonding treatment available but the one that I "entrust" my hair with is the L'oreal Hair X-tenso. I upgraded from the "regular" to the "Very Defiant Hair" formula. Because it takes literally an entire day to get my hair done with the regular one (yeah, that's how crazy my hair is). And also, I've been going to the same salon for 5 yrs now. I tried a different salon and a different formula once and it was DISASTER! The name of the salon is Substance Day Salon but I think they changed it now to Substance Salon (Substance Day?!! that doesn't make any sense :P). And believe me, they're the best in the X-tenso league and so with other L'oreal treatments. I have proclaimed my love for L'oreal Hair products over and over to this blog so finding a salon that has L'oreal treatments as their forte is just like finding my soulmate...HAHAHA!! but seriously, they are located pretty far from where I live and by going back there for 5yrs now, that's just show how satisfied I am:)

The salon has a very homey feel to it, but the equipments and facilities are just as sophisticated as the high end salons in the metro:)

and here's how my hair looks like now:) sleek and STRAIGHT...literally silky smooth :)

TIP: Now, the challenge to treated hair is MAINTENANCE. Before, I used to neglect my hair thinking it will get fixed anyway when I get my hair rebonded, Heck I was wrong. My hair was super dry they have to use more products than usual on my hair and more products mean more payment. And the end result was not very pretty either. It wasn't as shiny and the ends were just horrible. Why maintain?? For those who don't know, hair rebonding process involves a lot of blow drying and ironing thus making the hair thinner. So how do we maintain treated hair? A regular hot oil or hair spa would do. Once or twice a month, depending on how damaged your hair is. So yeah, Rebonding your hair can be costly. A L'oreal Hairspa normally costs around 900php ($19). And that's why I also got this from the salon yesterday...

I'll just replace my conditioner with this and VOILA! no more monthly hairspa:)

BTW. L'oreal x-tenso at Substance Salon costs 2300php ($50) per tube. That's another reason I keep on coming back to that salon, after the 1st tube you could pay for a half, or even, quarter tube. My hair's so thick and long, I used up 1 and 3/4 tube which cost me 4025php ($87).

Substance Salon is located at 18 Mystic Rose Drive, Sanville Subd. Quezon City (along Visayas Ave.). You could call them up at 920-o4-24/925-67-43.

Hair Care Routine & Tips

Just the basics. I do use other products every now and then but these are my MUSTS at the moment :)

1. Shampoo and Conditioner: Herbal Essences

I love the consistency :) very light..perfect for the summer specially the shampoo:) I think the formulation is very mild that i have less hair fall now. Very good for normal hairs. I do not recommend these to severely damaged hair. I also think it made my hair more manageable also:) The smell is OK but it doesn't stay very long. It lathers OK too and is easy to rinse off . And I like that they package it this way:) the matching curves at the side is so cute..sort off tells you that this stuff is really a pair so you could expect both will work wonders together....Does that make sense??? i don't know..anyway one thing's bugging me though... The shampoo is called "Body Envy" while the conditioner is called "None of your Frizzness"...get it?? a 'volumizing shampoo' and an 'anti-frizz conditioner'..isn't that a little contradicting?? I picked out the shampoo first in the grocery and because obviously they have the same color theme, I picked out the conditioner without even reading the labels.......they got to be a pair!! right??:) Honestly, I've just started using this for a week so it may be a bit too early for me to make a review but, whatever... i love these stuff and i think my hair did show improvements :)

Tip: towel your hair first before applying your conditioner. Do not apply when your hair is soaking wet because most of the product will just be washed away with the water dripping from your hair. Its also good to leave the conditioner on your hair for a couple of minutes. I'm ALWAYS in a rush during the morning...every SECOND counts. so what I do is I shampoo my hair first and when I already applied my conditioner, I put on my shower cap then do everything else. Wash my face, brush my teeth, wash my body THEN rinse my hair last ;)

2. Treatment: CREAM SILK Precision Repair

To be used once a week. You do not replace this with your conditioner. After shampooing and conditioning, dip about the first segment of your index finger then scoop out then apply this to your. I have long and thick hair so I do this twice. Concentrating on your ends then use whats left for the roots and the middle area. I have a very ugly hair regrowth so I use probably the same amount on my ends to my root :) Leave this for 3 mins before rinsing off so again, if you're always in a hurry during workdays like me:) use this every weekends:)

Actually, IMO this is just the same Cream Silk conditioner doubled up:) the formulation and the consistency and that's what makes it a "Repair Therapy" for your hair. And i think that's the reason you use this only once every week, it may cause hair fall if used more than the recommended. If you have extremely damaged and not brittle hair, i think it's OK to use this twice a week:) It still has the same smell as the regular Cream Silk conditioner and we know that smells good :)

and last but not the least..

3. Hair Serum: L'Oreal Elseve Re-Nutrition

This is a Night Serum. It says it has royal jelly that makes your hair bouncy and revitalized. I loooove this product. I'm almost done with this bottle and I'll definitely get myself another one:) Its like conditioning your hair while you sleep how convenient is that :) For my hair, I apply 2 pumps of this to my hair again, concentrating on the ends then using whats left for the middle area. DO NOT apply on roots! maybe jjjjuuuusst a little on the top area of your hair just be sure to never put some on your scalp. You might get dandruff because you don't rinse this product off. I also love the packaging. I like that its a pump and covered...very hygienic:) But my favorite thing about this is the smell:) its soooooo good! very citrus-y but you know how L'Oreal hair products are. They always smell nice that's why I love love 'em :) Oh, do not worry the product will get all over your pillow it dries quickly and doesn't feel sticky :)

Tip: You probably heard it already, Its not always good to shampoo everyday (of course with the exception of summer season. Shampoo your hair if you got sweaty! so pls don't go 'eww-ing' on me). I do not recommend this product if you're not going to shampoo in the morning. It may not feel sticky when you slept with it but in the morning if you don't wash/shampoo your hair, it will be:)

so there:) that's my basic hair routine. hope it helps somehow:) Have a gorgeous hair every one!

l'oreal power dose

As part of my haircare routine, I make sure I have hair treatment at the salon once a month. Hot oil or hair spa. Honestly none of those really does the job. I just do it for the sake of doing it. But last Sunday the stylist suggested I try their L'oreal Power Dose treatment. I was hesitant at first because its quite pricey (900php -- for 2vials) for something that will work until I wash my hair the next day but after giving it some thought (plus extra push from the stylist) I decided to give it a 'go'. I love L'oreal hair products anyway:)

Only after 4 days, after washing my hair and all was I only floored by this product:) Not only is my hair soft and smooth, its also shiny and the color from my cellophane treatment 2 months ago stood out. But the best part is, it made my regrowth less frizzy and waaay 'calmer' than it usually is:)

gorgeous hair
